you’re my favourite person in the entire universe at the moment.
‘are you just that amazing?’
huh. i don’t think me using or not using references for my art should have any impact on the final product being more amazing or less amazing. but thank you anyways :)
i sometimes use reference pictures and i sometimes don’t when drawing. i find it easier to work from because i enjoy blind contour drawing. i take a lot of my own references with models etc.
painting i always have some on hand, especially of the actors.
i also enjoy referencing other artists. i’m particularly influenced by my favourite artists james jean and francis bacon. i enjoy drawing on aspects of their works. especially lines. i have an obsession with lines in work- the visible, invisible. the negative spaces.
ingesting whipped cream directly from the can may seem like a highlight of being eighteen and living alone.
but really it’s awful and no one should do it. it’s bad for you. don’t do it.
A: Never answer e-mails from Nigeria. That said, I feel sorry for people who are actually sending legitimate emails from Nigeria. My point: If you’re running a business, be professional, honorable and worth every penny. Your actions affect the industry at large.” —James Jean
